Nighttime lane and intermittent full road closures on southbound U.S. 218 and I-380 in Waterloo scheduled for April 2 #iatraffic
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – March 28, 2014 – Motorists should be alert to lane closures and intermittent full road closures of southbound U.S. 218 and Interstate 380 in Waterloo, from East San Marnan Drive (I-380 exit 72) to the northwest on U.S. 218, from 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, until 6 a.m. Thursday, April 3, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
Intermittent road closures will cause traffic to be held for up to 30-minute intervals to allow for the installation of a dynamic message sign. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to find alternative routes. Traffic may back up beyond the limits of the work zone and motorists should be prepared to come to a complete stop. Law enforcement officers will be present to assist with this temporary road closure.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
