DES MOINES, Iowa – April 29, 2014 – Bridge deck repair work on the bridge over North Walnut Creek on U.S. 6 (Hickman Road) between Interstate 80 and Iowa 28 near Clive will require alternating lane closures beginning Monday, May 5, until mid-July, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Des Moines construction office.

During this project, traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction on U.S. 6 (Hickman Road). Access to U.S. 6 (Hickman Road) from Cobblestone Road and Northwest 80th Place will be limited to right-in/right-out turn patterns. There will be an 11-foot width lane restriction in the open lanes.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
