Iowa 141 bridge over the Middle Raccoon River just east of Coon Rapids to close on Monday for replacement #iatraffic

JEFFERSON, Iowa – April 30, 2014 – Work to replace the bridge carrying Iowa 141 over the Middle Raccoon River 0.5 miles east of Coon Rapids will require closing the bridge and detouring traffic beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, May 5, until the end of September, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Jefferson construction office.

During this project, Iowa 141 will be closed and traffic will follow the signed detour through Coon Rapids using Carroll County Road N-44 (Velvet Avenue), West Street, Elm Street, Sumpter Street, Carroll/Greene County Road E-63 (Bridge Street), and Iowa 25. Access to local traffic will be maintained along the route.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
