Lane closures on I-380/U.S. 218 near San Marnan Drive in Black Hawk County, begin Monday night #iatraffic

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – April 18, 2014 – Bridge approach replacement work for an asphalt resurfacing project on Interstate 380 at the East San Marnan interchange will require long-term lane closures in the north- and southbound lanes between U.S. 20/U.S. 218/Iowa 27 (exit 71) and U.S. 218/I-380 near Mitchell Avenue beginning next week, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

Northbound single lane closures are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Monday, April 21. Southbound single lane closures are scheduled for later in the week.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
