Lane closures on U.S. 6 (Hickman Road) in Waukee scheduled to begin Monday #iatraffic


CRESTON, Iowa – April 17, 2014 – Construction of an eastbound turn lane onto Northeast Westgate Drive in Waukee requires closing the inside lanes of east- and westbound U.S. 6 (Hickman Road) from Warrior Lane to Alice’s Road in Waukee from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays beginning Monday, April 21, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Creston construction office. A 16-foot lane width restriction will be in place in the open lanes.

In addition, the inside lanes will be narrowed to an 11-foot lane width restriction from 4 p.m. until 8:30 a.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 21, 22 and 23.  

This project is expected to be completed by early May.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
