Iowa DOT News Release

CRESTON, Iowa – April 30, 2014 – Installation of dynamic message signs will require full and intermittent road closures on Interstate 80 in Dallas County near Waukee beginning Monday, May 5, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Creston construction office.

• Full road closures: Eastbound I-80 at exit 117 (Dallas County Road R-22) near Waukee will be closed to traffic from 9 p.m. Monday, May 5, until 5 a.m. Tuesday, May 6. Traffic will be detoured onto the off-ramp at exit 117 and onto the I-80 entrance ramp.
• Intermittent road closures: Westbound I-80 between exit 117 (Dallas County Road R-22) and exit 121 (Jordan Creek Parkway) near Clive, will be closed intermittently to traffic from 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, until 4 a.m. Thursday, May 8. The closures will cause traffic to be held for up to 20-minute intervals to allow for the installation of a dynamic message sign. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to find alternative routes. Traffic may back up beyond the limits of the work zone and motorists should be prepared to come to a complete stop. Law enforcement officers will be present to assist with this temporary road closure.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
