NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – May 27, 2014 – Progress on the bridge approach work on northbound Interstate 380 in Waterloo at the San Marnan Drive interchange will allow the contractor to open an additional lane in this location overnight tonight, weather permitting. The contractor plans to make this traffic switch between 7 p.m. tonight and 6 a.m. tomorrow morning according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office. Northbound I-380 traffic will then have two through lanes in this area.
Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment on or near the roadway, and the possibility of slow or stopped traffic.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
