U.S. 169 north of Lakota, in Kossuth County, reopens to traffic this afternoon #iatraffic

BRITT, Iowa – June 26, 2014 – U.S. 169 between Iowa 9 (north of Lakota, in Kossuth County) and the Minnesota border will be open to traffic beginning this afternoon, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Britt construction office.

The project has been completed ahead of schedule and will eliminate a long detour. The $4.3 million dollar concrete overlay project began in April. Croell and Subsidiary of New Hampton is the contractor for the project.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
