RISE grant applications approved
The RISE program was established to promote economic development in Iowa through construction or improvement of roads and streets. Iowa cities and counties are eligible for funding in the form of a grant, loan, or combination thereof. Projects must involve construction or improvement of a public roadway. There are two RISE project types: 1) Immediate Opportunity, and 2) Local Development. More information is available at: www.iowadot.gov/systems_planning/rise.htm.
Jefferson County: Up to $140,625 from the county share of the RISE Fund was approved for a Local Development grant to assist in paving of approximately 1,000 feet of Nutmeg Avenue north from U.S. 34 east of Fairfield. This project is necessary to provide improved access to more than 160 acres for industrial purposes. This project is anticipated to be completed by October 2015.
West Des Moines: Up to $3,519,375 from the city share of the RISE Fund was approved for a Local Development grant to assist in the construction of Maffitt Lake Road from Veterans Parkway southeast approximately 4,000 feet to South Eighth Street and the reconstruction of South Eighth Street approximately 2,000 feet north under Iowa 5 to the development site of a new Microsoft data center facility. This project will provide access to more than 280 acres for professional office and data center purposes. This project is anticipated to be completed by October 2015.
