Iowa 281 to close July 22 for culvert replacement work #iatraffic
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – July 18, 2014 – Work to replace an existing bridge with a box culvert on Iowa 281 between Black Hawk County roads D-20 and C-66 (3 miles south of Dunkerton) will require closing the roadway to traffic beginning Tuesday, July 22, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
Traffic will be routed from Iowa 281 north on Black Hawk County Road V-49, and then east on Black Hawk County Road C-57. Local traffic traveling southbound can still use Iowa 281 but will not be able to proceed south of Dunkerton.
This project will be completed by late October.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
