Lane restrictions on U.S. 52 at the Upper Iowa River bridge near Decorah begin July 28 #iatraffic
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – July 18, 2014 – Bridge deck joint repair work will require reducing U.S. 52 to one lane at the Upper Iowa River bridge beginning Monday, July 28, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
There will be a 10-foot-4-inch width lane restriction in the open lane of traffic. Motorists will be directed through the construction zone by temporary traffic lights. Lane width restriction signs will be in place in advance of the project from both directions to alert traffic of the restriction.
This project will be completed by late October.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
