Nighttime lane closures on Collins Road at C Avenue in Cedar Rapids begin Sept. 2 #iatraffic

MANCHESTER, Iowa – Aug. 26, 2014 – Portland cement concrete patching on Collins Road, at the intersection with C Avenue in Cedar Rapids, will require nighttime lane closures of Collins Road Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 2 and 3,  from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Manchester construction office.

Traffic impact

  • One lane will remain open to traffic in both directions on Collins Road.
  • Motorists approaching from the south on either Marion Avenue or C Avenue will be allowed to only turn right onto eastbound Collins Road.
  • Collins Road will be closed to traffic approaching from the north.
  • Local traffic only will be allowed south of Blairs Ferry Road to access Rockwell Collins. However, through traffic will need to use an alternate route from Blairs Ferry Road. No marked detour will be provided.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
