Commercial Air Service Retention and Expansion Committee meeting to be held Sept. 24 in Des Moines


AMES, Iowa – Sept. 15, 2014 – The Commercial Air Service Retention and Expansion Committee will meet 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, at the Des Moines International Airport, Cloud Room, 5800 Fleur Drive, in Des Moines.

Senate File 2355, passed in the 2014 legislative session, created a commercial air service retention and expansion committee that includes the Iowa DOT director or designee; the managers of each airport in Iowa with commercial air service; two members of the senate, one appointed by the majority leader of the senate and one appointed by the minority leader of the senate; and two members of the house of representatives, one appointed by the speaker of the house and one appointed by the minority leader of the house. The committee shall, on or before Dec. 31, 2014, develop a plan for the retention and expansion of passenger air service in Iowa. The committee shall meet as the committee deems necessary to assess progress in implementing the plan and, if necessary, to update the plan.
