Lane and ramp closures on I-235 in West Des Moines scheduled from Sept. 26-29 #iatraffic
DES MOINES, Iowa – Sept. 24, 2014 – A bridge construction project on Interstate 235 between 60th Street (exit 122) and I-235/I-35/I-80 (exit 123) in West Des Moines will require lane and ramp closures over four separate consecutive weekends beginning Friday, Sept. 26, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Des Moines construction office.
This weekend, the closures will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, until 6 a.m. Monday, Sept. 29. I-235 will be reduced to one lane in each direction over I-35 at the west mixmaster in West Des Moines.
Sept. 26-29 traffic impacts
- Traffic on I-235/80 between 60th Street (exit 122) in West Des Moines and I-235 (exit 1A) in West Des Moineswill be restricted to one lane in each direction.
- The northbound I-35 loop ramp to I-80 westbound will be closed for the four weekends, please follow the signed detour.
- The exit ramp from southbound I-35 to eastbound I-235 will be closed, please follow the signed detour.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
