Iowa DOT News Release

BRITT, Iowa – Sept. 26, 2014 – A hot-mix asphalt intersection patching project on Iowa 122 and U.S. 65 in Mason City and Clear Lake will require nighttime lane closures beginning at 10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Britt construction office.

Sept. 28-30 traffic impacts

• The contractor, Heartland Asphalt, will begin patching intersections in Mason City at 10 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, at the intersection of Iowa 122 and Monroe, the intersection of 10th Street and U.S. 65, and the intersection of U.S. 65 and 19th Street. 
  
• The contractor will be closing the median crossover for the intersection of the northbound Interstate 35 ramps and Iowa 122 in Clear Lake at 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29. The median crossover for the intersection of Iowa 122 and 24th Street will also be closed at 9 p.m. and will be reopened to traffic by 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30. During this time period traffic will not be able to make left turns at these intersections. Traffic will be required to use the next open intersections for access.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
