Iowa DOT News Release

CRESTON, Iowa – Sept. 15, 2014 – Repair work to patch faulting in the roadway and stop an increased instability to the ditches along U.S. 169 between De Soto and Winterset requires an emergency closure of the roadway and detouring traffic, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Creston construction office.

Traffic impact

• Traffic wanting to go south from De Soto to Winterset is being detoured east on Interstate 80 (exit 110), south on I-35, and then west on Iowa 92 (exit 56) to reach U.S. 169 in Winterset.
• Traffic wanting to go north on U.S. 169 from Winterset to De Soto is being detoured east on Iowa 92 (exit 56) to I-35, north on I-35 to I-80, and then west on I-80 to U.S. 169 at De Soto (exit 110).
• Motorists will be notified once the roadway is repaired and open to traffic.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
