Nighttime intermittent road closures on I-74 in Davenport begin Thursday night #iatraffic
DAVENPORT, Iowa – Jan. 14, 2015 – Nighttime construction work will require intermittent road closures on Interstate 74 in Davenport so workers can place concrete beams for a new bridge over I-74 between the I-80 interchange (exit 298) and 53rd Street (exit 1) from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 until Friday, Jan. 16, and Monday, Jan. 19 until Tuesday, Jan. 20, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Davenport construction office.
Motorists should anticipate traffic delays due to slow or stopped traffic and the Iowa DOT recommends they consider alternate routes to avoid the congestion.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
