Nighttime closure of I-29 near Sioux City begins at 8 p.m. tonight #iatraffic


SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Feb. 12, 2015 – Placement of overhead sign structures will require nighttime intermittent lane closures on southbound Interstate 29 north of the I-29/U.S. 20/U.S. 75 interchange (exit 144) and south of the Floyd Boulevard interchange (exit 147) beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 3 office in Sioux City.

  • Traffic will be stopped for 20-minute intervals.
  • Intermittent lane closures will occur between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. and midnight and 2 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13.
  • Motorists approaching this area should drive with caution and be prepared to stop for traffic backups beyond the limits of the work zone.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
