NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – March 23, 2015 – Construction of a new interchange at the intersection of U.S. 218 and Black Hawk County Road C-57 requires closing access to Black Hawk County Road C-57 beginning Wednesday, April 1, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

Motorists will be detoured around the construction zone using marked routes. The detour will be in place through the winter of 2015-16. Traffic will be allowed access to Black Hawk County Road C-57 once the interchange is completed in the fall of 2016.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
