Iowa 316 bridge over the Des Moines River south of Runnells to close at 12:01 a.m. March 30 #iatraffic

DES MOINES, Iowa – March 25, 2015 – Bridge deck reconstruction work requires closing the Iowa 316 bridge over the Des Moines River south of Runnells, in Polk County, to traffic beginning at 12:01 a.m. Monday, March 30, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Des Moines construction office.  

Traffic is being routed around the construction zone using Iowa 5, U.S. 65, Iowa 163, and Polk County Road S-27. Message boards are on location to remind travelers of the upcoming closure. This project should be completed in approximately three months.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
