Nighttime construction on Collins Road between west of Council Street and Northland Avenue in Cedar Rapids begins Sunday night #iatraffic
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – April 2, 2015 – Road construction work on Collins Road between west of Council Street and Northland Avenue will begin Sunday night, April 5, weather permitting, according to the Iowa DOT’s Cedar Rapids construction office.
Lane closures in both directions will be from 7 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings and from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. Friday nights through Sunday mornings. Motorists are encouraged to find the alternate routes to avoid delays.
The project includes installation of subdrain, pavement patching, replacement and repair of storm sewer intakes, shoulder paving, and hot-mix asphalt resurfacing. It is expected to be completed by Aug. 7.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
