Nighttime lane closures and traffic detour on U.S. 34 at Iowa 14 in Lucas County April 13-15 #iatraffic
CHARITON, Iowa – April 9, 2015 – Nighttime work to replace a beam on the bridge carrying Iowa 14 over U.S. 34 in Lucas County will require detouring east- and westbound U.S. 34 traffic around the work zone from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, April 13 through 15, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Chariton construction office.
Traffic will be routed around the work zone using the on- and off-ramps during the nighttime closures.
Jasper Construction Services of Newton was awarded the approximate $231,100 contract for this project.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
