U.S. 69 south of Klemme to close April 27 for bridge replacement over the Iowa River #iatraffic
BRITT, Iowa – April 17, 2015 – Work to replace the bridge over the Iowa River on U.S. 69 south of Klemme will require closing the roadway to traffic beginning Monday, April 27, until early November, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Britt construction office.
Traffic will be detoured west on Hancock County Road B-55 for 3 miles, south on Hancock County Road R-56 for 6 miles, and back east on Hancock County Road B-63 to U.S. 69 at Goodell.
Godbersen-Smith Construction Co. of Ida Grove was awarded the $1,614,571 contract for this project.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
