NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – July 27, 2015 – Progress on the bridge joint repair project at the I-380/U.S. 218/U.S. 20 interchange in Black Hawk County will allow for revising lane restrictions currently in place, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

On Tuesday evening, July 28, weather permitting, the open lane for southbound I-380 traffic on the southbound I-380/U.S. 218 to eastbound U.S. 20 ramp will be widened from 9-feet-6-inches to 16 feet. This restriction will remain until early September.

On Wednesday, July 29, from just west of exit 232A at the I-380/U.S 218/U.S. 20 interchange, the lane restriction for eastbound U.S. 20 traffic will widened from the current 10-foot-5-inch restriction to 18 feet. This will also be in effect until early September.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
