Nighttime traffic detours on northbound I-380 at 29th Street/Coldstream Avenue exit in Cedar Rapids scheduled for Aug. 22-31 #iatraffic

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Aug. 21, 2015 – Painting of the Glass Road bridge over Interstate 380 in Cedar Rapids will require detouring northbound I-380 traffic during the overnight hours beginning Saturday, Aug. 22, through Monday, Aug. 31, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cedar Rapids construction office.

During the bridge painting project:

  • Detours will be in place 9 p.m. Saturdays until 8 a.m. Sundays, and Sundays through Fridays from 9 p.m. through 6 a.m. the following morning.
  • Traffic will be rerouted using the 29th Street/Coldstream Avenue off-ramp and the on-ramp at 32nd Street to get back onto northbound I-380.
  • Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes to avoid delays.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
