Nighttime construction work on U.S. 218 east of Cedar Falls in Black Hawk County begins Oct. 4 #iatraffic
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Sept. 30, 2015 – A Portland concrete cement patching project on U.S. 218 from George Wyth State Park to just east of the Iowa 27/Iowa 57/Iowa 58 interchange in Cedar Falls (southbound lanes only) will require nighttime work from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays, and from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays, beginning Sunday, Oct. 4, until late October, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
Work may not occur on consecutive nights each week to allow coordination with an adjacent bridge project on U.S. 218 in Waterloo.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
