Iowa 100 ramp in Cedar Rapids closes Sept. 21 #iatraffic

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Sept. 16, 2015 – Work on the Edgewood Road and Iowa 100 interchange is progressing to the next stage. On Monday, Sept. 21, the Iowa 100 ramp on the north side of the bridge will be closing with the opening of the Iowa 100 ramp south of the bridge, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Manchester construction office.

Both directions of Hwy 100 have been using the ramp on the north side of the bridge most of the summer while the ramp on the south side was being constructed. The ramp being used by traffic will be switching to the south ramp on Monday.  Both directions of traffic will be using the south ramp, allowing the north ramp to be closed for construction.

The south half of the intersection to Hy-Vee will also be closed at this time for construction.  Traffic to the business plaza will be maintained on the north half of this intersection.

Traffic patterns on Edgewood Road will not be changed at this time.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
