U.S. 69 between Huxley and Ames will reopen Sept. 4 #iatraffic

AMES, Iowa – Sept. 3, 2015 – Football fans traveling to Ames on Saturday for Iowa State University’s home opener will have another option for traveling to Jack Trice Stadium, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 1 Office.

The Iowa DOT will reopen U.S. 69 to traffic from Huxley to Ames beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, weather permitting. U.S. 69 from 118th Avenue in Ankeny to Iowa 210 was reopened to traffic Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Although the road will be open to traffic in these two work zones, crews may be completing minor project-related work, for another week.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
