Reconstruction of I-380 noise wall near Evansdale to begin April 4 #iatraffic
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – March 30, 2016 – Removal of the existing steel noise wall and construction of a new precast concrete noise wall along Interstate 380 near Evansdale is scheduled to begin Monday, April 4, weather permitting, according the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
The contractor will begin working on the north side of I-380, with work on the south side expected to begin mid-summer. Construction is expected to be completed this fall.
There will not be any daytime lane closures. However, when the contractor is working during the day, there may be traffic cones along the outside shoulder where the contractor will have vehicles parked to load and unload materials.
During the nighttime hours, there will be occasional lane closures resulting in single-lane traffic.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
