NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – April 27, 2016 – Paving work at the ramp tie-ins for the U.S. 218 interchange at Black Hawk County Road C-57 near Cedar Falls requires closing the outside north- and southbound lanes from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday nights to Monday mornings, and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday nights through Friday mornings beginning Monday night, May 2, until late May, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
Traffic impacts
At times, the lane closures may include the intersections with Mount Vernon, Bennington , and Gresham roads for sawing concrete in preparation for future work at these intersections.
There may be occasional daytime outside lane closures as well from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
