NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – April 27, 2016 – Hot-mix asphalt resurfacing on north- and southbound U.S. 218 between Mitchell Avenue and Williston Avenue/18th Street in Waterloo will require alternating nighttime lane closures from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday nights, and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday nights through Friday mornings beginning Monday, May 2, until mid-July, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
