UPDATE-SB I35 between US30 and IA210 to close Thursday night (note change to time of closure from 8 to 7 pm)

AMES, Iowa – April 28, 2016 – The southbound lanes of Interstate 35 between U.S. 30 and Iowa 210 in Story County will be closed beginning at 7 p.m. (note time change from 8 p.m.) Thursday night, April 28 through 6 a.m. Friday, April 29, weather permitting, for emergency roadway patching and repairs, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 1 office.

Traffic impacts:

  • Motorists will be detoured around the closure using U.S. 30 to U.S. 69, to Iowa 210, and then back to I-35.
  • Trucking companies with over-height loads will need to contact the Iowa DOT permit center for rerouting at 515-237-3264.
  • Prior to the closure, motorists should expect delays in the area during high traffic times and take alternate routes if possible.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
