RISE grant application approved
The RISE program was established to promote economic development in Iowa through construction or improvement of roads and streets. Iowa cities and counties are eligible for funding in the form of a grant, loan, or combination thereof. Projects must involve construction or improvement of a public roadway. There are two RISE project types: 1) Immediate Opportunity, and 2) Local Development. More information is available at www.iowadot.gov/systems_planning/rise.htm.

Manning: Up to $259,918 from the city share of the RISE Fund was approved for a Local Development grant to assist in paving of approximately 1,101 feet of Commercial Street located on the west side of town. This project is necessary to provide improved access to four lots totaling more than 18 acres for industrial purposes. This project is anticipated to be completed by November 2017.

Story City: Up to $321,255 from the city share of the RISE Fund was approved to assist in paving approximately 965 feet of Holm Avenue on the northwest side of town.  This improvement is necessary to provide improved access for the proposed expansion of the American Packaging Corporation which is an integrated flexible packaging converter. The project will support the creation of 22 jobs and more than $20 million in associated capital investment. This roadway improvement will also serve 16 acres for future industrial purposes. This project is anticipated to be completed by July 2017.
