U.S. 69 railroad work set to begin Monday in Des Moines has been postponed #iatraffic


AMES, Iowa – July 22, 2016 – A project to repair a railroad crossing on U.S. 69 in Des Moines originally scheduled to begin Monday, July 25 has been postponed.

The work, which will require closing the roadway be closed to traffic between Aurora Avenue and Northeast Broadway Avenue, will be rescheduled at a later date, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 1 Office.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
