MANCHESTER, Iowa – Aug. 30, 2016 – Road grading work for the future Southwest Arterial at the intersection of Seippel Road and U.S. 20 in Dubuque will require closing Seippel Road and Cousins Road to traffic beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Manchester construction office.
Seippel Road will be closed from one-half mile west of U.S. 20 to U.S. 20. Traffic will be detoured around the closure using U.S. 20, Iowa 32 (Northwest Arterial), and Chavenelle Road. Seippel Road will remain closed until the Southwest Arterial project is completed and open to traffic.
Cousins Road will be closed north of Seippel Road and traffic will be detoured using U.S. 20 and Old Highway Road. Cousins Road, between Seippel Road and U.S. 20, will remain closed indefinitely. The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
