CHARITON, Iowa – Sept. 15, 2016 – Road construction work to rebuild the on-ramp from Iowa 92 to southbound Interstate 35 (exit 56) in Warren County will require closing the ramp to traffic beginning at 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Chariton construction office.
Traffic will be detoured using Iowa 92 east to I-35, north on I-35 to Warren County Road G-14 (exit 65), west on Warren County Road G-14 to I-35, and then south on I-35.
The on-ramp to southbound I-35 at exit 56 is expected to reopen in approximately three weeks, weather permitting.
Also on Friday, Iowa 92 traffic will switch from the existing alignment to the new bridge and alignment over I-35. The northbound loop ramp to I-35 will also close but the new northbound ramp to I-35 will open.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
