CHARITON, Iowa – Oct. 24, 2016 – Road construction work on the U.S. 65 bridge over the South River south of Indianola, in Warren County, will require shifting traffic to the new bridge and temporarily closing McGregor Street beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Chariton construction office.

Traffic will stay in this pattern until the remaining portion of the new bridge and the new alignment for McGregor Street is constructed. Reopening is anticipated for late December.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.
