Iowa 100 between Edgewood Road and Covington Road in Linn County scheduled to open Thursday #iatraffic

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Dec. 14, 2016 – Work on Iowa 100 between Edgewood Road and Covington Road is substantially completed. This section of the extended Iowa 100 is tentatively scheduled to be open to traffic Thursday afternoon, Dec. 15, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cedar Rapids construction office. 

The opening of Iowa 100 will be a major benefit for motorists to get to the west and southwest sides of Cedar Rapids. The public is encouraged to take a trip and enjoy the scenic view of this new section of roadway.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
