Preliminary earth and bridge work on I-35 south of Ames begins this week #iatraffic
Jefferson, Iowa – Dec. 13, 2016 – Preliminary earth and bridge work and set up by the contractor on Interstate 35 south of Ames will begin this week, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Jefferson construction office.
Road construction work at this time will not require a change to travel patterns on I-35. On May 8, 2017, the southbound I-35 off-ramp to westbound U.S. 30 and the westbound U.S. 30 exit ramp to Dayton Avenue will be closed for up to three months.
Minnowa Construction Inc., from Harmony, Minn., was awarded this $22,997,144 project.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
