Shaulis Road at Iowa 21/Hawkeye Road in Black Hawk County will reopen Dec. 21 #iatraffic
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Dec. 15, 2016 – A traffic safety improvement project to add signal lights and left-turn lanes at the intersection of Iowa 21/Hawkeye Road and Shaulis Road, 1 mile south of U.S. 20 in Black Hawk County will be completed on Wednesday, Dec. 21, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
Once Shaulis Road is reopened on Dec. 21, the traffic signals will be activated. Currently, digital message signs provide advanced notice to motorists approaching the intersection and will remain in place until Hawkeye Community College is back in session on Jan. 9.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
