Posted on: April 24, 2017

GRIMES, Iowa – April 24, 2017 –  Emergency pavement repairs will require the closure of the southbound lanes of U.S. 69 (Northeast 14th Street) south of Northeast Broadway Avenue in Des Moines for the next several days, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 1 maintenance office.

During the closure, the Iowa DOT will be routing southbound traffic into one of the northbound lanes of U.S. 69. This head-to-head traffic pattern is a change from a previously announced detour.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
