Shaulis Road at Iowa 21 in Black Hawk County to be closed May 22 for road repairs #iatraffic
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – May 19, 2017 – A traffic safety project was completed in 2016 to add traffic signals and left-turn lanes at the intersection of Iowa 21 and Shaulis Road, 1 mile south of U.S. 20 in Black Hawk County. During construction, a small section of new pavement was damaged in the southbound lane that needs to be patched. This work will take place at 8 a.m. Monday, May 22, and requires closing Shaulis Road at Iowa 21 for one day, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
Traffic impact
- Iowa 21 through traffic will be maintained, but both sides of Shaulis Road will be closed during this work.
- Signals will be placed in yellow-flashing mode at this intersection during the road repair work.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
