Utility work may cause slow traffic around Ankeny next week #iatraffic
AMES, Iowa - Sept. 29, 2017 – Contractor crews working for MidAmerican Energy Company will be replacing approximately 9.4 miles of overhead electric shield wire from Bondurant to Ankeny next week. To assist with the installation, crews will be utilizing a low-flying helicopter. Installation is scheduled between Monday, Oct. 2, and Monday, Oct. 9. Work will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., weather dependent.
Crews will be on the shoulder along U.S. 69 south of NE 66th Ave. on Oct. 5 and in the median near the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 south of the Corporate Woods Drive exit on Oct. 6. Work dates are subject to change based on weather.
Motorists will want to avoid these areas during work hours, if possible. No lanes of traffic will be closed as part of the work, but motorists may encounter delays.
Additional law enforcement will be on hand to help keep traffic safely moving through the area.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution and watch their speed near the area of the installation. Drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
