Both directions of U.S. 63 between Dane Street and Newell Street in Waterloo to close Nov. 15 for one week #iatraffic
NEW HAMPTON, Iowa – Nov. 13, 2017 – Testing of a dewatering/water suppression system in advance of next year’s reconstruction project between Franklin and Newell streets on U.S. 63 in Waterloo will require the contractor to close the roadway in both directions between Dane Street and Newell Street beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, until Wednesday, Nov. 22, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s New Hampton construction office.
Motorists will be detoured around the construction zone using Airline Highway, Airport Boulevard, and U.S. 218.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
