First Street at I-35 in Ankeny to close overnight March 29 and 30 for bridge construction #iatraffic
GRIMES, Iowa – March 23, 2018 – As part of the ongoing reconstruction of the Interstate 35 interchange at First Street in Ankeny, First Street will be closed at I-35 overnight from 12:01 a.m. until 5 a.m. Thursday and Friday, March 29 and 30, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office.
The closure is necessary to allow to prepare for setting new bridge beams over First Street. Traffic on First Street will be detoured around the work zone using I-35, 36th Street (exit 94), and Oralabor Road (exit 90).
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
