Detour for U.S. 218 at U.S. 30 in Benton County begins at 9 a.m. Monday, July 23
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – July 20, 2018 – Road construction work to grade and pave the interchange of U.S. 218 and U.S. 30 in Benton County will require detouring north-and southbound traffic on U.S. 218 beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, July 23, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Cedar Rapids construction office.
Motorists will be directed around the work zone with a signed detour route using Benton County roads V-66 and E-44, U.S. 30, and U.S. 218.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
