Lane shifts on northbound I-35 at First Street in Ankeny to begin overnight Monday, July 31

GRIMES, Iowa – July 30, 2018 – As part of the ongoing reconstruction of the Interstate 35 interchange at First Street in Ankeny, the contractor will be shifting northbound traffic onto the median north of the First Street interchange on Tuesday night, July 31, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office. The new traffic pattern will be in place on the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 1.

Both lanes will be maintained during daytime hours. Southbound I-35 traffic will be unaffected.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
