U.S. 169 north of Fort Dodge closed for bridge deck work

JEFFERSON, Iowa – July 5, 2018 – A bridge deck overlay project on the U.S. 169 bridge over Deer Creek north of Fort Dodge will require closing the bridge and roadway to traffic between Webster County Road D-14/170th Street, near Fort Dodge, and Webster County Road C-56/Nelson Avenue, south of Humboldt, from 6 a.m. Thursday, July 5, until Friday, Aug. 31, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Jefferson construction office.

During this closure, traffic will be detoured around the work zone using Webster County roads D-14/170th Street, P-56/Nelson Avenue, and C-56/120th Street.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
