Ramp closures on I-35 at exit 96 near Elkhart in effect


Grimes, Iowa – Sept. 18, 2018 – Northbound entrance and exit ramps to and from I-35 at exit 96 (near Elkhart) will be closed today until 7 p.m., weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes Construction office.

Beginning 8 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 19, north- and southbound ramps at this location will be intermittently closed during daylight hours. This project is scheduled to be completed by 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26.

The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
