Iowa DOT to host online public meeting on travel needs in the Des Moines Metro

DES MOINES, Iowa – Jan. 25, 2019 – The Iowa Department of Transportation will be hosting an online public meeting to provide information about the Des Moines metropolitan area Integrated Corridor Management effort and gather input on travel needs in the area. All persons who are interested in participating in this online public meeting should visit https://iowadot.gov/desmoinesicm/events-resourcesto provide your valued input. The meeting will be available between January 25 and February 8, 2019.

Integrated corridor management is a means to proactively manage and operate transportation systems in a region. Roadways and other transportation options are operated, controlled, and treated as an integrated system rather than as individual components.

The Iowa Department of Transportation is in the process of identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing integrated corridor management strategies and selected improvements to cost-effectively and proactively manage traffic in the Des Moines metro. In cooperation with the Des Moines Metropolitan Planning Organization, local jurisdictions, the Greater Partnership, and other stakeholders, Iowa DOT is taking a phased approach to implement strategies as a means to manage traffic under all types of conditions to deliver improved safety, mobility, reliability and quality of life for all users.
